POSTCODE MEMORIES - MY B1, B2…..

In collaboration with Zero Plus Theatre - Our neighbourhoods shape us. From our local parks to our schools and corner shops — they hold our memories. In this storytelling project, communities across postcodes share personal treasures: photographs, letters, videos, and keepsakes that connect them to a place and time.

Saathi House in Aston, B6 6HR has profoundly impacted my life. During my youth, my friends and I participated in the girls' club, where we enjoyed outings and forged lasting friendships. It was the only place my parents felt comfortable allowing me to visit, and it opened up a world beyond B6 6HR for me. We had the opportunity to explore beautiful locations such as the Peak District and Wales.

My parents don't drive, so without these trips our holidays would have been spent at home or wandering the streets. This experience ignited my passion for art and nature, significantly contributing to the development of my creative side. Now, 35 years later, my daughter is attending the girls' youth club, where she has been able to socialise and build her confidence. Saathi House holds a special place in my heart, and I am proud to give back by delivering drama projects for the organisation that nurtured and supported me during my formative years.
